Elise Levine Cooper
It only took me only one week, after graduating from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, to make a splash on Madison Avenue. I was hired at the prestigious Daniel & Charles Advertising. And so my journey began…
I spent twelve years in New York City, in the fast lane, devising and executing exciting campaigns. As Director of Public Relations at Sawdon & Bess Advertising, I worked with Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s International, booking media tours and escorting him to all of his interviews throughout the northeast market. I was wooed away from Sawdon & Bess by Integrated Food Systems (the largest northeast franchise of Wendy’s International) and was appointed Director of Marketing & Public Relations. There, I was responsible for developing local programs for 26 Wendy’s restaurants in the New York metro area.
At Diana Orban Associates, a highly respected travel public relations firm, I worked on CLIA to transform the image of cruise vacations by booking and traveling with cruise professionals to TV, radio and newspaper interviews nationwide. I hosted writers from top-flight newspapers and magazines at the St. James Court Hotel in London and the Elbow Beach Hotel in Bermuda as well as on Royal Caribbean ships. I collaborated on the launch of the “Sovereign of the Seas” (at that time, the world’s largest cruise ship), along with press trips and a variety of public relations activities for all accounts.
Over the past fourteen years I’ve had the good fortune to work with Giles Communications, in Purchase, New York, on a number of exciting accounts. For Yamaha’s Keyboard Division, I packaged, pitched and placed stories, locally, nationally and internationally. I launched the AvantGrand “Hybrid” piano introduced by Alicia Keys, promoted the Disklavier performance reproducing piano, created awareness for the Elton John Signature Series Red Piano and worked on a variety of media and community outreach projects for Yamaha dealers. I also created and executed strategies for Manhattanville College, NAMM (The International Music Products Association) and Longford’s “Own Made” Ice Cream.
Over the course of my career, I’ve secured thousands of national and local broadcast, print and on-line media placements that have resulted in millions of media impressions in such leading publications as USA Today, New York Times and BusinessWeek.
I consider myself lucky, because my career has always been exciting, challenging and fun – more like play than work.
